A fitting conclusion to an amazing trilogy
The Hero of Ages is the final book in the original Mistborn trilogy, picking up following the aftermath of The Well of Ascension. To avoid major spoilers, I will sadly avoid discussing major plot points and character developments.
I loved everything about this book. This was definitely the strongest book in the trilogy – beautifully raising the stakes while still focusing on the interpersonal relationships between the crew and how our characters were adjusting to certain changes. Throughout the Mistborn series, there are so many things that are mentioned vaguely and this book brought everything together so perfectly. All the unknowns, soft cliffhangers, and questions were worth it ten times over. The epithets (if that’s the right word for them) were one of my favorite devices – I can’t go into it more without spoilers but I love love loved it.
The ending of this book made me want to laugh, cry, and immediately reread the entire series. The progression of Vin and Elend’s relationship was beautifully crafted, and Sazed had one of the best arcs I’ve ever read.
Overall
Though I can’t get into any more details because I don’t want to spoil anything, this book has solidified this series as one of my favorites and has officially converted me into a Sanderson fangirl.
